I’m a product designer (User Experience/User Interface) with a background in visual, editorial, and interaction design, and a passion for designing human-centered experiences. I am currently part of the product design team at Procore Technologies, where we build software for the construction industry.
Prior to Procore, I led product design at AFAR, a travel media startup, where I worked closely with my team to provide our visitors with an optimal experience of our travel content site. While there, I developed a pattern library based on Brad Frost’s Atomic Design book, in an effort to help my team innovate more quickly and efficiently.
I also spent 10 years as an art director and visual designer for major publishing companies like Meredith, Time Inc., Time Out New York, and American Express Publishing. It was during this time that I honed my skills in typography, composition, visual hierarchy, and storytelling.
I enjoy solving complex problems through technology and design to make things better for people; reading design blogs; learning about AI, and stumbling on helpful Figma plugins.
When not working, I like to:
Volunteer at Santa Barbara-area non-profits
Play pickleball, tennis, swim, bike and hike around Santa Barbara
Grow veggies in my back yard
Spend as much time as I can being active outdoors near water, mountains, and trees
Cheers,
Maria
